SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:

ACTH is a 39-amino acid peptide hormone (MW=4500) secreted by the pituitary to regulate the production of steroid hormones by the adrenal cortex. ACTH is a pituitary hormone essential to adrenal glucocorticoid production. This ELISA measures ACTH in human plasma for research on stress physiology, pituitary function, and endocrine regulation.
