SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:

Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is a DNA virus often associated with oral lesions, though transmission routes and disease presentation vary. IgM antibodies arise during early or reactivated infection. This assay detects HSV-1-specific IgM in human serum or plasma for research on acute immune responses and serologic profiles.
