SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:

Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi is a Gram-negative bacterium transmitted through ingestion of contaminated food or water. It is the causative agent of typhoid fever, characterized by systemic infection. IgM antibodies to S. Typhi antigens appear early in the immune response. This assay measures anti-S. Typhi IgM in human serum or plasma for research on acute-phase antibody kinetics and epidemiologic surveillance.
