SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:

Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite infecting humans and many warm-blooded animals. Transmission may occur via ingestion of oocysts from contaminated soil, water, or food, or tissue cysts in undercooked meat. IgM antibodies appear within weeks of primary exposure and may persist for variable durations. This assay detects Toxoplasma-specific IgM in human serum or plasma for studies on acute-phase immune response and infection dynamics.
