SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:

Varicella zoster virus is a double-stranded DNA virus of the Herpesviridae family with a biphasic disease profile: primary varicella and reactivation as herpes zoster. IgG antibodies develop following infection or immunization and can persist for years. IgG detection supports studies on population immunity, long-term antibody persistence, and VZV seroprevalence. This assay qualitatively measures VZV-specific IgG in human serum or plasma for research use.
